Privacy Policy

The developer of Flockfolio ("we", "us", or "our") provides the Flockfolio mobile application (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what information is handled when you use the Service, how it is used, when it is shared, and the choices available to you.
Privacy at a glance
Flock records, egg records, journal entries, notes, and photos are stored locally on your device. Flockfolio does not require an account. Information leaves your device when you choose to use the AI Assistant or when the app performs a connectivity check.
Information Stored on Your Device
You may choose to create and store the following information in Flockfolio:
- Chicken names, breeds, hatch dates, sex, status, and notes.
- Egg collection dates, quantities, colors, sizes, conditions, weights, and notes.
- Journal titles, details, categories, dates, follow-up dates, and completion status.
- Photos you take with the camera or select from your photo library.
- Your choice to accept or decline the AI Assistant privacy terms.
This information is stored in the app's local storage on your device. We do not receive it, upload it to our servers, or use it for advertising. Flockfolio currently does not provide user accounts or cloud synchronization.
Camera and Photo Library
Flockfolio accesses the camera only when you choose to take a photo. The system photo picker is used when you choose an existing image. Selected or captured images are resized and stored locally as part of your Flockfolio records. These images are not sent to the AI Assistant or uploaded by Flockfolio.
AI Assistant
The AI Assistant is optional. Before your first use, Flockfolio asks for your explicit permission to process AI messages. If you decline, you may continue using the non-AI features of the Service.
When you send a message to the AI Assistant, Flockfolio transmits:
- The text of your message.
- Up to 24 recent messages from the current conversation so the assistant can respond in context.
- Standard network and request information, which may include your IP address, request time, HTTP headers, and security or diagnostic metadata.
AI requests pass through a Flockfolio Cloudflare Worker to OpenRouter and then to an available third-party AI model provider. The model provider may change automatically if another model is unavailable. AI messages are used to generate responses, route requests, prevent abuse, and maintain the security and reliability of the feature.
Flockfolio does not sell AI conversations, use them for advertising, or add them to your flock records. Do not include names, addresses, contact details, passwords, payment information, personal health information, or other sensitive personal data in AI messages.
Connectivity Checks
Flockfolio periodically contacts an Apple-hosted endpoint to verify that an internet connection is available. Apple may receive standard network information, such as an IP address and request metadata, under its own privacy practices. The content of your flock records, journal, photos, and AI conversations is not included in this connectivity request.
Third-Party Services
The following providers process limited information only when their services are used:
OpenRouter may use different AI model providers to complete a request. Those providers may process information under their own privacy and retention terms. We encourage you to avoid submitting personal or confidential information to the AI Assistant.
How We Use Information
Information is handled only as necessary to:
- Provide the flock tracking, egg tracking, journal, gallery, and sample flock features.
- Generate AI Assistant responses when you request them.
- Check network availability and maintain service reliability.
- Protect the AI service against abuse, fraud, and security threats.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
Data Sharing and Sale
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising. Information is shared with Cloudflare, OpenRouter, and an AI model provider only when necessary to provide the optional AI Assistant. Standard network information is processed by Apple during connectivity checks.
Data Retention
Local records and photos remain on your device until you delete them in the Service or uninstall the app. The current AI conversation is maintained in the app for the active session and is not added to your persistent flock records.
Flockfolio does not intentionally store AI conversations in its own database. Cloudflare, OpenRouter, and AI model providers may process or retain request information according to their respective policies, security requirements, and legal obligations. Retention periods may vary by provider.
Your Choices and Data Deletion
- You can edit or delete individual flock, egg, journal, and photo records within Flockfolio.
- You can remove generated Sample Flock records without deleting your own records.
- You can clear the current AI conversation from the Assistant menu.
- You can withdraw AI permission from the Assistant menu. No new AI message will be sent unless permission is granted again.
- You can remove all locally stored Flockfolio data by deleting the app from your device.
Flockfolio does not use accounts and cannot remotely identify or delete data that exists only on your device. For questions about an AI request or to exercise an applicable privacy right, contact us using the address below. Because AI requests are not associated with a Flockfolio account, we may be unable to match a provider record to a particular user.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information handled through the Service. Network requests use encrypted HTTPS connections. However, no electronic transmission or storage method is completely secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
International Processing
Cloudflare, OpenRouter, and AI model providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Their privacy policies describe the safeguards and legal bases they use for international processing.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, applicable law may provide rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability of personal information. You may also have the right to withdraw consent. Contact us to submit a request. These rights may be limited where we do not hold information that identifies you.
Children's Privacy
Flockfolio is not specifically directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has submitted personal information through the AI Assistant may contact us to request assistance.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the Service or its data practices change. The revised policy will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Material changes will be communicated in the Service when required by applicable law.
